Short: Amiga Worldwide Atomic Clock Synchronizer V1.5
Uploader: chufarj@telepath.com (John Chufar)
Author: chufarj@telepath.com (John Chufar)
Type: comm/misc
Replaces: Atomic1_4
Installation: 2 easy steps
1) Copy atomic.rexx to your s: drawer.
2) Set the 'script' bit on atomic.rexx at shell prompt, with:
>protect s:atomic.rexx +s
Requirements:
1) AmiTCP: or Miami TCP - requires TCP: device)
2) AmigaDOS 3.x or greater (env:Locale.prefs file used)
3) ARexx
Operation:
1) Start TCP program (AmiTCP or MIAMI)
2) Start ARexx (Normal for "Most" Amigas)
3) At the shell prompt, type:
>atomic.rexx y (in summer - sets it up for DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME-DST)
-or-
>atomic.rexx n (in winter - sets it up for NO DAYLIGHT SAVINGS)
-or-
Double Click the ICON (you MUST answer the DST question)
4) After a successful connection is made, your clock is set.
5) After the time is set, close the Tools Output window.
Improvements
- FIXED Atomic1_4 time difference calculation bug
- Added + or - or precede timezone offset from UTC
- Still retains interactive mode if you leave off the ARG
i.e. >atomic.rexx -or- doubleclick Atomic.rexx ICON
then the program asks you if you want DST adjustment
Other Suggested Operations:
1) Add it to ToolsDaemon or similar "menu" program.
2) Add it to Events in Miami as follows:
(Doing this automatically runs Atomic.rexx everytime you use Miami!)
1) Start Miami
2) Select "Events"
3) Select the "Online - Filename Box" and enter
's:atomic.rexx n' (no quotes, and the "n" is for NO DST-change this
to y in the summer)
4) Select "Console name" box and enter:
CON:2/10/600/150/Atomic Clock/AUTO/CLOSE
